TPC Landscape Design Inc. FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)

Choosing The Right Contractor…

How do I find the right contractor for my specific job?

There are many landscape contractors that perform well at their specific job descriptions. There are also just as many that are not. Sometimes I can see where it becomes a task to find the contractor that is best for your specific installation or needs. I have seen work performed by contractors that you have to ask yourself, how did that guy get paid for such a bad job, I may never know the answer. A couple of things to keep in mind when choosing a contractor; Ask how long he or she has been performing the exact work you are looking to get done, meaning if he says he's been in business for 20 years, that is not the answer your looking for, simply because if you are looking to have a patio installed you need to know if you are his 2nd, 5th or 90th job. There are many landscape design firms that after they sell you on a job, the owner or manager will never be on the job to make sure you are receiving the best job possible. We at TPC Landscape Design Inc., will set up an appointment and go over the exact job you are looking to have performed, write up the estimate on the spot (95% of the time) and set up a time frame when the job can be performed.

'I, Tim Conlon, owner of TPC Landscape Design Inc., will be on the job from start to finish. There are very few companies that can honestly make that statement.

Thank you for choosing TPC Landscape Design Inc.'

Plant Material

Choosing The Right Plant Material…

You have now chosen the contractor you’re going to work with. You are relying on his or her expertise to guide you through the design process. Every customer has different ideas and tastes in how they envision their landscape design to look. It is our job to show you why you can and cannot plant certain material in certain places because of their ability to grow. If a plant was made to be in full sun, such as; a "Gold Mop Cypress" and you planted it in the shade, the plant would become thin and loose its gold color; eventually taking on the appearance of dying. Another example would be if you were to plant a 'Leland Cypress' alongside your front steps, it would look nice for the first year and then you would realize this plant grows at a rate that was not intended to be so close to my stairs. This is why you need the expertise of TPC Landscape Design Inc. to show you a design that will be beautiful from the first day of completion and to the future years ahead.

Walls
The Installation Of Walls…
There are certain criteria that need to be followed when installing walls of all types. Some manufacturers require or suggest installation guides that will end in a successful installation providing you've hired a competent contractor. Versa Lok stone walls which are one type, require certain base materials compacted with filter fabric behind the wall along with 3/4 inch clean stone for drainage. There are many other factors that go into building you a wall that will last for many years to come but that would be spelled out in an estimate. I have seen two walls built recently in my own town off of Midland Avenue and it’s easy to say they both show flaws in which the customer did not bargain for. In fact everything will show for itself in the coming years. The problem with a bad installation is the contractor that originally built the walls will never come back to fix it. The other problem is the cost to repair would be high so in essence you the customer would be paying twice, never mind the aggravation. Remember, there are many types of walls and each have their own installation guides.

Paving Stones
Installing Paving Stones…
